Canon PIXMA iP4850 – fast A4 printing

The printer measures 29.7 x 15.3 x 43.1cm (L x H x W) and weighs only 5.7 kilograms, making it easy to situate in any home or office. When idle, the front paper tray can be folded up to keep dust out of the inside of the machine. The device's two paper storage units can hold 150 sheets each. In addition to standard A4 paper, the device is capable of printing on envelopes, photo paper, transfer paper for iron-on t-shirt graphics or stickers as small as 10 x 15 cm. The device can also produce margin-less prints if desired. An included attachment allows users to directly print on CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray-discs.

The Canon PIXMA iP4850 prints with a resolution of up to 9,600 x 2,400 dpi. For printing on normal paper from the front paper tray, the duplex option can be activated to produce double-sided prints. Ink is dispersed using five separate ink cartridges – 3 colour and 2 black. This is extremely cost efficient, as only empty cartridges need to be replaced. The device can be connected to a computer using the integrated USB port and supports both Mac and Windows operating systems (Windows XP or newer, Mac OS X version 10.3.11 to 10.6). Cameras and smartphones can also be directly connected using the PictBridge port. The Canon PIXMA iP4850 only produces 46.5 decibels of active noise when in use.

Changing the ink cartridges in the Canon PIXMA iP4850

When you open the top panel while the device is turned on, the ink cartridges will automatically slide to the middle. An empty cartridge is indicated by a slow blinking light. Faster blinking indicates that a cartridge has not been inserted correctly. Simply press the front clip to release the empty cartridge. Remove the protective plastic from the new cartridge and insert the new cartridge at a slight angle where the word “push” is printed on the printer head. After the top panel is closed, the printer head will return to its working position and the ink heads will be automatically cleaned.
