Canon MP550 - the all-rounder with brilliant colours

The PIXMA MP550 is operated using a rotary knob which can be used to change the resolution, for example. A two-inch display shows the individual menu items and facilitates a print preview. The memory card or the USB stick are edited by rotating the knob and subsequently pressing OK; after the selection is made the printing process is initiated. The maximum resolution when printing is 9600 x 2400 dpi. The pigmented ink satisfies thanks to good coverage and sharp lines. The colour saturation is satisfying without a pattern being recognizable on the paper. With regard to the scanning process, at 480 x 2400 dpi the resolution is somewhat less. The Canon MP550 can print a text document over five pages in 46 seconds. During the scanning process it needs 30 seconds for a colour document. While printing, the device generates a noise level of 45.5 decibels. It has a paper feed in the back and a holder under the printer, each of which can hold a maximum of 150 sheets. DIN A4 paper, envelopes, and special photo paper can be used as printing media.

Replacing the ink cartridges for the Canon MP550

The printer has five different ink cartridges. In order to replace the ink cartridges, the scan module cover must be lifted all the way, and the ink cartridges are pressed and removed. With regard to the new ink cartridge, the orange band and the protective cover must be removed before it is inserted. The ink cartridge is placed in the empty slot and pressed down. Then close the cover.
